I still adore Tropisueno for its happy hour but am sad to report that it has been "discovered." I've probably been at least 5 times in the past few months, and usually there is no problem getting service or a seat by the bar area. When we went last week it was a totally different story. People poured in and practically fought for seats, and the waitstaff was fairly overwhelmed. They said it'd been getting progressively busier and busier (props to them in this economy that says a lot). So still a great spot, but be warned it's no longer chill and easy. If you're looking for a livelier scene though, you've got it!

tasty mexican food, and a nice ambiance. if you need a change from your mundane taqueria, come to tropisueno for the nice dining experience. but of course, the ambiance and downtown location will tack on a couple more bucks on your dishes. they have a full bar, and their get-it-yourself salsa bar is always stocked - and clean. call in your order if you need a bite during the lunch rush, or simply come after 2pm and you're grand.

Got the pollo asado. Chicken was tender, and the sides on the plate were pretty good. Could've used more veggies, but I usually think that for everything. Portions are huge! Ate half and brought half home Chips (brought to the table) are delicious. Service was great.

Specifically for their happy hour: Tropisueño is awesome. These guys have a weekday happy hour until 6:30 (last call at 6) with cheap margaritas, free chips, and affordable dinner fare. Many a good nights have been started by those margaritas. Fresh lime, agave, and decent tequila. Bartenders are super nice and servers are extremely attentive. If you're sitting outside, bring a jacket. It's typically cold with the wind.

I had no idea how a restaurant could accumulate that many reviews with a 4 star avg. Now I get it. We were there for lunch and the relleno burrito and fish burrito were absolutely delicious! And they are big servings that we so regretted not being able to finish. Ugh! The salsa bar was full of goodness as well. So believe the ratings. This place deserves it.

Right by the back door to the Marriott, this place was ideally located for a quick bite before getting a cab to the Airport. You can't beat nachos and salsa washed down with cold Negra Modelo. The guacamole was fantastically fresh and the quesadilla bursting with tasty carne asada. I'm sure there are better mexican places in SFO, but I'll certainly come back here next time I'm staying in the neighborhood.

We had a nice evening there, I didn't like the pork that much. My friends ordered beef and chicken and enjoyed their meals. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

Came for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30. Ordered our food right away, it arrived shortly after. Had the chips with guacamole, one carnitas super taco and one chili verde supertaco. The guacamole was good but the flavour was a little mild. Both supertacos were very good. Service was great. Lots of different sauces of varying levels of spice.

I am writing this review now that I am calm from what had happened on Friday. I am still appalled by the rude treatment, broken system and terrible service we experienced at Tropisueno on Friday night. It was so bad that I think I will make a detour on my daily morning commute to work, just so I don't have to see this place and remind me of that horrible Friday night. If you don't want to read the whole story, here is what I suggest: Don't go here. You might not hit the jackpot and get the same treatment, but why risk it.? You deserve better. Few nearby alternatives: "Garaje" on 3rd has much better mexican food for much lower prices, "Zero Zero" for drinks and pizza, awesome service. "Marlowe" if you want a really nice burger. "Jamber" if you want beer and wine on tap with good eats. "Nordstorm Cafe" if you want a classy place, good services, and good eats. So, here is what happened. Me and some friends were hanging out around Soma on Friday night and we ended up in Tropisueno for some margaritas and dinner. We asked for a table, and was told the wait would be about 45 minutes. So we were debating if we should get some drinks and wait or go somewhere else. After 15 minutes or so, few seats at the bar area opened up. So logically, the 3 of us grab the seats and ordered some drinks. We were getting hungry too, so we ordered some food as well, while we wait for our other friend who is running late since. And that's when things started to get complicated, fast. Since there were 3 of us, and 1 friend coming, we have 1 seat thats "opened" next to us. The server came over, cleared the surface of that 1 seat and said, "no miss, you can't save this seat, this area is first come first serve." We figured, no biggie, we will just move to the table when it becomes available. We went to the hostess and asked them if our table is available. They then said "oh, if you had ordered food, then you can't move the the tables. Thats the rule" "But we have another friend coming!" we said "Sorry" the manager said We went back to the bar, the server came over again and asked us what the manager said. "The manager said we can't move to the table because we already ordered food" The server said " ah , yea, but you can't save this seat, this is first come first serve" We were really stuck. Our food had just arrived, we couldn't switch to a table, and our friend is coming, with the seat next to us possibly taken at anytime. One of our friend asked the server "What should we do then? Our friend is coming" Server answered simply "Sorry" Not having much of an option, we were pissed and started eating hoping no one would take the seat, or we would just finish eating and get out of there. Then our friend send a text saying that he is 5 minutes away. At that time, a couple came over to the bar and asked if anyone is taking the seat. "yea we have a friend coming" The server immediately stepped up and push his face really close to my face and said "No miss, you can't do that, you can't save the seat" Then gave the 1 seat away to the couple. As expected, our friend arrived 3 minutes later, as he arrived, we told him, sorry, your seat were just taken like 3 minutes ago. The couple saw our friend and kindly said "Oh, you guys can have this seat, no worries" and moved. Then immediately, the server came up again, and said "No miss, you can't do that. You can't save the seat." I was furious at that point. That man had interrupted our dinner 4 TIMES at that point. I then told him "No! The couple offered to let our friend have the seat!! She gave it to us!" Server then said "oh oh.. ok, it was just that the manager sees this and he won't allow it and I would get into trouble" I then told him "ok, why don't WE go and talk to your manager together then? where is he?" Server pointed at the black suit wearing man, the same guy who told us we couldn't move to our table because we had already ordered food. Furious and frustrated I went up to the manager, with the server quickly followed. I then told him "So we were the 3 people who ordered food and couldn't get transferred to a table, and now the server here said he would get into trouble since we were trying to save our 4th friend a seat. I just want to let you know that the very nice couple who was assigned the 1 seat at the bar, nicely offered us the 1 seat to our 4th friend is that ok?" the manager said "what? I don't know whats happening. yea yea its fine. " Needless to say, we will never to return to this restaurant ever again. This place is always crowded and their food is decent, but neither me or my friends had ever been in a situation where we felt SCREWED at a Friday night drinks and dinner. There are better options out there, you can do better. YOU DESERVE BETTER. Go somewhere else!

Just ate here last night for the first time. I loved it! Great food, great music, GREAT (strong) margaritas! Good prices and good service. I really enjoyed it! Would definitely go back. Also, I like the atmosphere... highly reccomend

  • Demitri S.

I live their food, it makes me want to jump up and dance! The margaritas are incredible and so authentic. I also giggly recommend the chile relleno burrito. This little haven it's affordable especially compared to all the way over priced fare options in the Yerba Buena area. It's also a greet, casual place to meet up for lunch or after work. Keep in mind that during the day, it's a classic taqueria. At night, they transform it to a restaurant with dim lights and higher prices

  • J. W.

Not really authentic but good food nonetheless. Good quality meat and ingredients. One of the best salsa bars in SF. Each salsa is delicious. Mainly go here for lunch and it always get packed so get there early. Margharita is good but too pricey and nothing special. Clean and good vibe.

One of the few places around SoMa that is not tourist infested.. Great food, good service.. friendly and fast. Love , love their carnitas.. So tasty, perfectly melts in your mouth. The guacamole is fresh and delish! The chips are awesome. Would definitely come back here again.. Believe in your senses!!!

Tropisueno is an excellent addition to the financial district. A taqueria during the daytime, and full service at night. Check out the happy hour with cheap priced margarittas, guacomole, and ceviche.

This place was really good! We went here several months ago and although I can't remember exactly what we ordered, I recall having very good food, friendly and attentive service (especially with our two crazy little ones), all in a clean, comfortable, attractive environment. I will go back next time I'm in the city.

I wasn't quite sure about this place when walking by outside, but very glad I stopped in for a beer and a taco. Great happy hour specials on both drinks (beer, cocktails) and food. I had the fish tacos - crispy fried fish with a sweet cole slaw topping. Very nicely assembled. I think with 2 beers and 2 tacos I spent about $11. Good luck trying that somewhere else. The free chips and salsas were pretty amazing as well. Nice place to stop for a quick drink. Just looking over their website, and it seems that they fully comply with their "bang for your buck" philosophy and "people people" staff. Everybody was very friendly.

  • Dan S.

Great fresh mex! The guacamole is a must. They also have fantastic tamales. Also, try a Cadillac Margarita if you dare. The bartender is heavy handed just the way I like it. The prices are very reasonable for the Union Square area.

On the seventh day, God made cucumber margaritas at Tropisueño. He deemed them delicious, had a few too many, and slacked a little on continent creation (Hi, Antarctica!). Thousands of years later, I couldn't be more grateful for his overindulgence. (Sorry, Adellie penguin rookeries, but if this was the trade, I'm just glad you can huddle to keep warm.) As Pee-Wee Herman once said,, 'TEQUILA!!'

The service? Outstanding. Very knowledgable and friendly. The dishes needed to be simplified--too much sauce, too many ingredients, etc.

  • Jen R.

Yummy! Can't wait to get to SF again to go back. It really was THAT good! It's conveniently located by the Marriott Marquis. The food is reasonably priced. Suggestion: Go to the Skybar at the Marriott Marquis to begin your evening. Have a cocktail & enjoy the views. Then, downstairs & out the backdoor to Tropisueno for some delicious food & killer cocktails!

its about time I rate this spot... since Ive literally had every seafood dish on the menu; all the seafood entrees are simply amazing... the ceviches are only 3.5 - 4 stars but Im hard to please w/ ceviche service here is great too; ask, and you wish receive going back tonight for the 8th time and I cant wait

Went here after a car show at the Moscone Center. We just happened to come across it walking around and it was an amazing find! They have delicious food and a great atmosphere. It was extremely busy on a weekend night and we had to wait for a while but it was worth it! The chips, tacos and margaritas were so good!

Freshly made chips, salsa and guac + signature margaritas + carnitas = a satisfied belly! A must try if you're in the area. Have not yet had a bad meal.

Great guacamole & Veggie burrito. Others had ceviche & fish tacos. Chips & salsa complementary.

  • Rebecca L.

There are very few things to dislike about Tropisueno. Heck, I even cheated on my vegetarianism once here because of the humanely treated meat they serve (and my boyfriend and I had to try the flautas.) Ambiance: 5 stars It's a place you can go for a fun date night or with a group! I LOVE the feel of this place on the inside, it's just so darn fun. Perfect lighting, too. Food and drink: 5 stars Even as a vegetarian! Service: 5 stars Have always enjoyed service with a smile from our servers! I'd give it 6 if I could! By far one of my favorite places to eat in SF.

  • Jessica G.

Before I moved to SF I would almost want to visit the city just to go to Tropisueno. Great food with very fresh ingredients. Great vibe, very chill. Great service. Now on to the good stuff. The Margs. They are amazingly lethal but amazingly tasty. Belly up to the bar and keep the chips and salsa coming...they're a great side to their margaritas!

    (5)
  • Marc F.

Not the best mexican food out there, but it was good The have a good selection of special margaritas that are pretty good

margaritas are delicious and strong! Try the lavender one, out of this world. The place is a little pricey, but well worth it. Happy hour is also great.

Shockingly good place in the most inauthentic, and my least favorite neighborhood in San Francisco. Got stuck staying at the GloboHotel Marriott Marquis for business, which is attached to the restaurant. Not a lot of interesting places to eat within a few blocks of the hotel and was skeptical of this place given its location but I was pleasantly and profoundly incorrect. Super legit food and great service. Salsas are scratch made, as is their sour/margarita mix. They serve several dishes which are legit Yucatan recipes. Their Pescado Veracruz and Camarones Ala Diabla are amazing. Highly recommend, though good luck getting a seat when the Dunder Mifflin conference is in town.

I liked my tostada. It looked small but it was packed with meat. My husband felt his carne asada was only ok. Lacked flavor he said. Kids had tacos and the mother-in-law had fajitas. Nothing exciting. The chips and guacamole were really good though. Lastly it was pricey! $100 for 2 dishes, 6 tacos, 1 tostada, chips and guacamole and 4 Mexican drinks and 2 sodas.

Veggie burritos, fresh, friendly, cold beer, sidewalk and indoor seating. Just do it !

Nice place to enjoy with friends. Lively atmosphere. Loud. The guac is really good. So chips and guac anytime. I ordered chicken fajita and it was a filling meal. Comes with fried chicken, sautéed bell peppers, pinto beans and rice. Really filling!

  • Stacey R.

This place was packed and for good reason. The menu is a bit overwhelming but the food is excellent. Started out with the plantains, a mezcal margarita and some wine. I had the chicken tacos and my hubs had carne asada with a enchilada. Service was very friendly and fast. The ambiance was nice. I would recommend and return.

Fun place, really good prices for the quality of food and portion they give you! One negative was that the restaurant is extremely hot and not well ventilated. but other than that, I always pick this place for dinner parties/ gatherings !

A hidden gem - right next to the Marriot Marquis in downtown San Francisco and lucky lucky us for finding it. I read about Tropisueno's on Yelp before we visited SF and thank you to my Yelpers. This place was cool and delicous. Terrific drinks, fresh chips and three kinds of salsa to start your meal. The creamy salsa was a bit too spicy for my taste, but the red and green were amazing. Mom and I shared the adobe chicken and it was tender, juicy, flavorful and HUGE. Thank goodness we shared a plate. Our plate came with a half chicken, three kinds of beans (all scrumptious) and warm tortillas. I swear we couldn't finish it all. My niece had enchiladas and they were wonderful as well. Service was attentive and friendly and our waiter gladly split the plate for us. Thanks again to my fellow Yelpers for steering me in the right direction. Yum.

Holy Hell yeah! Amazing margaritas, really, really good food. That's it. We had the house margaritas (many, many, times). The Chile Verde and the bistec were also so good. Go to this place NOW!!!

I officially love this place! Especially after I ditched a date, who was three-sheets to the wind when I met up with him. Tropisueno was my only hope, while I waited an hour for a friend to meet me so a night in the city and the pretty wouldn't be wasted. I found myself rolling solo at the bar with chips and salsa, and chicken tacos (as usual). Delicious food and great service. Plus the burrito bar they have open during day is amazing!! I'll be back again and again, but next time I'll be bringing my crew.

    (5)
  • Tiffany K.

Damn you for being so close to my house! This place was amazing. It totally makes sense that it's always packed. The free chips and salsa was actually my favorite part of the meal, the food was great too, but oooohhhh those chips. The servers were nice and the decor is cute. This is a great date spot for casual dining.

    (5)
  • David Q.

How anyone can rate this place lower than 5 stars is beyond me. This places location makes you think stuffy, fake food and extremely high prices.......well you would be WRONG! The food is amazing and really authentic and original. The speed and quality that you get your order is great and the selection of sauces and salsas is to die for....especially if you like it "hot"....a perfect place for lunch on the go or relax outside and people watch...

    (5)
  • Annie C.

I've loved Tropisueno for years and am selfishly sad it has received so many good reviews that it is now so popular! You definitely need a reservation before you go, but they can be made pretty last minute. I love the chile verde and now the newer sopa de pollo. So flavorful and wonderful. My bf always gets the camarones tropisueno. Can't get himself to try anything different he enjoys it so much. Their house margs are great and LOVE the trio of salsa they bring out!

  • jack d.

The food is good however, - There are not a lot of vegetarian options and the options they have aren't marked well - The margaritas are $11 - The lighting is a slightly too dark

Will not take a reservation for parties larger than FIVE people until 9:45pm. "Good for groups", my ass. What a joke.

Some of the best Mexican food I've had in the Bay. I've been looking for a nice Mexican spot and happened to stumble across this one and was not disappointed. The food is fresh and would normally be charged much more at other restaurants. The prices are very fair and the food is delicious! The roasted corn napales is really good and a must try. If they have fresh watermelon ask for a watermelon mojito (if you're not a tequila fan like myself). You'll love it. Definitely check it out

    (5)
  • Grace C.

Excellent Happy Hour spot. They give you bottomless chips & salsa. I shared a plate with a carne asada taco & a chicken flauta & both were delicious. The beans were also great. The only thing I didn't like was the rice - I've had much better Mexican rice. Very friendly & efficient service. I'll definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Angie O.

If you're looking for a burrito, this place is not for you. The group seated ahead of us left in disdain, because they "realllllly wanted a burriiiitooo" and "like can't believe a MEXICAN place didn't have burrriiitooos". I hope they found safety in the slightly warm, yet familiar arms of Taco Bell. If you're looking for an array of spicy salsa, fresh chips, and not overly salted Mexican food then swing by. The plates are decent sized, not so big you wish you had a second stomach, but not so small you pretend to be at a French restaurant. Be sure order the plantanos maduros and margaritas.

    (4)
  • Mike O.

Full frontal disclosure. I like my Mexican food cheap and simple. Class it up and something is lost. This place classes it up. And it tastes good. But that something is lost. Except for the margaritas. That's some good stuff there. Evidently they have a flavor of the month. Who KNOWS what it will be this fine August 2012? I ordered the veggie tacos and the cheese enchiladas. Not a huge fan of yams & squashes or whatever it was in a veggie taco. Just beans and lettuce and maybe some onions and tomato. Anyhoo, the cheese enchiladas were standard and good. The guac here was good also, but, generally, where is guac BAD? Yes, we've all had it, but most places don't F this up. The chips came with an array of dips and salsas that were superfluous and also superfluous. I'm fine with just SALSA, gracias. Not a bad place at all, but perhaps mildly overrated? Hm?

Awesome food. The 'Tres Conchinas' was amazing. Very big portions of food so don't fill up on the chips.

Came here for lunch and ordered 2 chicken burritos with refried beans. Ended up getting 2 pulled pork burritos with black beans. Not a big deal - they apologized and fixed the order. Ate half of the burrito (which was mostly refried beans and a few pieces of chicken) and then bit into a piece of plastic.

Had a great dinner here last night with friends and family. The drinks were amazing I got the tropisueno margarita and the duende. Both great. The mussels appetizer was also Wonderdul. I highly recommend the pollo! It was delicious. Great vibe great food.

  • Eric S.

I'm usually tough on "tex-mex" spots but this place is the real deal. (THIS IS NOT CHIPOTLE) the ceviche is legit and the fish tacos are some of the best around. The burritos are hearty I couldn't finish one. Nice atmosphere, great staff and fast service.

    (5)
  • Chrissy R.

Came here with a friend to check it out for an event we are hosting later in the year. Scallops appetizer (Callos a la Plancha) is super yummy! I had the Tampiqueno which was so much food for the price - ended up taking half of it home with me. Watermelon Margarita was the margarita of the day and that was so needed on a warm City day. Great atmosphere, great staff, awesome food, a chill environment and outdoor seating, what more could you want?

    (4)
  • Justin S.

The margaritas are good but everything else is lacking flavor. Its not bad but I won't ever come here as a destination. Next time I end up at YBC starving I might stop in again but there is no magic.

    (3)
  • Kelly B.

The staff is very nice, and the food is ready in a reasonably quick time, even during the later part of lunch hour. The prices are some of the best in downtown SF. But you do get what you pay for. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with the 'super' option, which is sour cream and guacamole. I was so disappointed that the sour cream turned out to be a bunch of squiggles squirted on the surface of the top two pieces of quesadilla (there were four total) instead of a big scoop. The guacamole was not as fresh as I'd hoped, and neither was the salsa. I suppose I'd go back if I'm short on cash, but I'm thinking a taco truck is a better deal.

    (3)
  • Kate P.

Although you'll definitely find better Mexican food in the Mission (and for a third the price), Tropisueno is a great place to come for happy hour or a date night or with your amigas. The food is good, the drinks are better, and the chips are not bad either. The wait is long, so try to make a reservation or come before the dinner rush (aka arrive before 645 if you don't want a 40min+ wait).

  • Mz BoniTa B.

My husband & I stayed at the Westin & walked by this sexy restaurant on our way to Yerba Buena Gardens so on the way back we decided to get some lunch. I ordered the Chile Relleno burrito & my hubby ordered the grilled shrimp burrito so we can share. Whoa, flavorgasm in my mouth! The burritos here are HUGE & loaded! The margaritas are strong & yummy!!! We will def be back!

Food was great! At least 2 or 3 options for vegetarians. Service was strictly ok. Restaurant was quite busy and servers were a bit inattentive. Possibly just streched thin.

  • Maryrose S.

A co-worker and I ventured into this spot after working a convention at the Moscone Center. LOVED IT! Friendly service at the bar and restaurant. Their portions were large and the food was oozing with flavor. I ordered the Tampiqueno. Wow, the carne asada was marinated and prepared perfectly. Very tender, melt in your mouth goodness. And the portion was enough to last a couple more dinners (at least with my appetite). Awesome chips and salsa too. The only downfall was that I ate so much of it that I didn't get to sample any of the appetizers like I normally would. Oh well...next time!

  • Nicole Q.

Long story short: a super yummy place! Good atmosphere, great drinks and even better food! Recommendation for the pepino margarita-fresh with a cucumber flare. Chips and trio of salsa before meal were amazing!!! Service was stellar and prices are unbeatable! Definitely a must for San Fran!

This restaurant was amazing. We came here on a whim - and there was an hour and a half wait. We got a spot at the bar and sat with an awesome bartender named Roman. He was amazing and the rest of the staff was just as accommodating. I will definitely come back, and well worth the wait!

  • Winé C.

Like all the other reviews say, the freshness and portions were awesome here! Ordered a chicken quesadilla, was starving before, but managed to have enough for a second meal! You can definitely taste the freshness and appreciate their authentic flavors. There are a variety of sauces to choose from, which I can never say no to, my favorite being the orange though everything else were unforgettable also. What else is there to say? Come through! Lunch hours do get incredibly packed though! Happy hour may be my next go!

  • Andrew S.

The salsa here is to die for. I'd go there just for the salsa if I could. I've been here both for lunch and dinner. During lunch time they open up a food line to get those in a hurry in and out. There is no seating outside during dinner...I'm guessing it's because they are worried that people will dine and dash. Overall, this place is great. Delicious food!

Great happy hour from 4-6 M-F. $6.50 house margaritas (SO GOOD!) I ordered mine spicy. Apps range between about $4-$6.50. Dinner service starts at 5:30. Friendly bartenders, good times!

Like I said, I love burritos and the burritos here are pretty darn delicious! I love how the carne asada is cut into chunks of meat. The quality is instantly noticeable. The chips are so addicting, very thin and freshly made. Last but certainly not least, the cerviche is soooo good with just the right amount of zest. Definitely, a must-try! Lots of seating with nice, Spanish-style decor. Order up front then seat yourself. They will bring out your food quickly.

The place is off the charts. First of all the location,in the heart of the financial district, right by St Patrick's Cathedral, makes it easy to get to. The decor of the place is so inviting,it combines the styles of a Mexican restaurant with the trappings of San Francisco's financial district. For the food, I always start with Steak Burrito rice,Black beans sour cream...to find out about a place. The first bite was heavenly! The ingredients are a very high quality, and put together perfectly also the chips are delicious, thin and tasty. The Salsa keeps it going being fresh with a large selection.

Happy hour is crazy! It is packed, but the waiters are so quick and efficient that you are never left for wanting food or drink. Food was great!

So I came here during lunch with a friend. This was my first time here and my friend told me it was good he's been here before. When we got here we looked at the big menu they have and then order at the counter. We ordered the steak nachos and tacos. I must say that this place was actually good. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked which made both the nachos and tacos really good. I would definitely come back.

I have not tried any of the food there, as the menu is very meat-heavy, but they make an excellent margarita. Go on a weekday between 4 and 6, because Happy Hour prices are where it's at. For $5.50 a pop, they really can't be beat. Their 'ritas are strong, but so fresh and sweet. The chips and dip are amazing. I could just munch on these all night (and I'm pretty sure I did). To be quite candid, I'm usually not a tequila gal, but I gulped down three before I even realized just how intoxicated I really was. Oh well, I made it home safely and didn't make (too many) bad decisions afterwards.

A nice Mexican place to eat at downtown. It gets a bit cray-cray during lunch hours (as everyone and their business partners from the Fi-Di storm this place). Tip: during lunch, there are no reservations, it's just order, take food, scrounge for a table and sit down. The reason why it's just A-OK is because the food is just A-OK for fancy Mexican. I had the shrimp and fish tacos and they were just average - nothing spectacular like Tacolicious or like authentic Mexican tacos. :\ The only redeeming factor for my meal was maybe the margaritas. They weren't that strong - which I guess is a good thing since I came in for lunch :o).

Delicious! Everything thing here is amazing from the tacos to the burritos and the margaritas. You can't go wrong with tropesuenos! Everytime I'm in the city I make a point to come here. Try the tropesueno margarita and carnitas tacos.

Worse service experience ever! I had made a reservation via OpenTable (link on yelp) the night before and got there on time. The manager brushed me simply off with the words: if you make a reservation via opentable it doesn't necessarily mean that it shows up in our system. See I don't have a reservation in your name and neither a table available. I even showed him my email confirmation that I had received but he rudely suggested us to wait for 45 minutes. Poor service quality! We headed for another place and won't return for another try.

Was in town for a conference so decided to stop here for lunch. This review may not reflect an average dinner so beware, tour experience may be higher. My two work colleagues waited in a line out the door. We went thru a typical Chipotle style serving line. I ordered a chicken enchilada with mole sauce. It came with chips, black beans and rice. It was very good, but accurately priced. It wasn't a deal, nor over priced. Good solid Mexican food if on a corporate card but wasn't impressed.

Been here a few times already, it can get busy during lunch. It is a bit far from my office but I occasionally make the trek out here for lunch. So far I've had their tacos, it reminds me of the taco trucks in the east bay, and Tropiseño does not disappoint, well not much anyway. I miss not having lengua tacos along Market! The ladies at the production counter take your order, hand you an order number and a copy of your order to take to the cashier, pick a drink and pay. The hardest part would be finding a table, but once you do remember to go and fetch the salsa you'll need for the basket of tortilla chips that will be served. They have a wide selection of salsas, and every one is delectable. Your food will be served quickly. Plus if you don't finish it all, they provide aluminum foil to wrap up your unfinished meal.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
